On Wednesday, May 20th, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin jointly met with journalists in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Xi Jinping stated that this was Putin's 25th visit to China. He said that this fully demonstrates the high level and special nature of relations between China and Russia. He also recalled that over the past 30 years, the relationship between China and Russia has been constantly improving, and today it has reached a historically high level as a comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era.

According to Xi Jinping, the relationship between the two countries has become an example of a new type of relationship between major powers. He said that in recent years, China and Russia have made significant contributions to defending international justice and promoting the building of a new type of international relations. At the same time, he described them as an important stabilizing force in a period of profound global changes, the likes of which the world has not seen in a century.

The Chinese president called for further strengthening of political mutual trust and strategic support. He emphasized that both sides should continue to firmly support each other on issues related to their core interests and major concerns. At the same time, he said that they should continue strategic communication and exchanges at all levels.

Xi Jinping also stated that China and Russia should strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation and jointly promote their development and recovery. He mentioned the need to deepen the connection between China's 15th five-year plan for the years 2026 to 2030 and Russia's development strategy until 2030. The goal is to expand and modernize cooperation in various areas.

An important part of the relationship should also be people-to-people contacts. Xi Jinping called for the development of higher-quality interpersonal exchanges, which should strengthen the foundation of long-term friendship between the two peoples. He described the China-Russia Education Exchange Initiative as an opportunity to support student exchanges and deepen cooperation between universities and research institutions.

In the international arena, Xi Jinping called on China and Russia to coordinate more closely and work together to reform and improve global governance. According to him, both countries should reject all forms of unilateral pressure and actions that seek to reverse the course of history. He specifically mentioned provocations that, in his opinion, deny the results of World War II and attempt to excuse or revive fascism and militarism.

Vladimir Putin stated that relations between Russia and China are currently at an unprecedentedly high level. He said that both countries have been developing cooperation in the spirit of mutual respect, equality, mutual assistance and support.

The Russian president emphasized that cooperation between Russia and China is not directed against any third party and is not influenced by geopolitical changes. He added that Moscow and Beijing will maintain close strategic coordination on the international stage, jointly defend the goals and principles of the UN Charter, and contribute to protecting global security and stability.
