Xi Jinping calls for enhanced, comprehensive strategic coordination between China and Russia to support the development of both countries.
Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Wednesday that China and Russia should promote the development and revitalization of both countries through enhanced, comprehensive strategic coordination.
Xi Jinping made the remarks during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is on a state visit to China, in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of China-Russia strategic partnership and coordination, and the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on Good-Neighborly Friendship and Cooperation between China and Russia, Xi Jinping recalled.
"China-Russia relations have come this far step by step, precisely because we have consistently deepened political mutual trust and strategic coordination with unwavering determination, expanded cooperation with tireless efforts to reach new heights, and defended international justice and fairness with unwavering commitment, striving to build a community with a shared future for mankind," he said.
"The international situation is evolving and turbulent, and unilateralism and hegemony are resurging, but peace, development, and cooperation remain the aspirations of the people and the prevailing trend of our times," he added.
As permanent members of the UN Security Council and major countries in the world, China and Russia should adopt a strategic and long-term perspective, promote the development and revitalization of their respective countries through enhanced, comprehensive strategic coordination, and work towards making the global governance system more just and reasonable, Xi Jinping said.
Political mutual trust continues to deepen, cooperation in various fields such as trade and economy, investment, energy, science and technology, and people-to-people and regional exchanges continues to develop, and the bonds between the two peoples are growing stronger, Xi Jinping added.
China-Russia relations have entered a new stage of greater achievements and faster development, he emphasized.
Upholding the long-term, healthy, stable, and high-quality development of China-Russia relations is a strategic choice for both sides, based on the fundamental interests of both countries and global trends, Xi Jinping said.
Xi Jinping called on China and Russia to fully implement the important common understandings reached between him and Vladimir Putin, seize historical opportunities, and further strengthen mutual trust, cooperation, and friendship between the two countries.
