Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, called on party members in the new era to continue the revolutionary traditions and strive for new achievements on the new journey.

Xi, who is also the President of China and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks in a letter of reply to Zhang Liansheng, a 102-year-old party member, ahead of the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, which falls on July 1.

Xi expressed his sincere greetings to Zhang and to other veteran party members and comrades across the country.

Xi recalled that Zhang, as a radio operator in the "Fourth Brigade" of the Central Armed Forces during the War of Liberation, followed the Central Committee of the Party about eighty years ago, tracing the flames of war in the northern part of Shaanxi Province in northwestern China. Throughout his life, he has dedicated himself to work in the field of communication technology, and he continues to be interested in the affairs of the Party and the country.

"I would like to express my respect to you," Xi wrote, highly praising Zhang's sincere and deep love for the Party and his faith in the Party.

Xi urged all party members to never forget their original aspirations and founding missions. He emphasized the importance of faithfully fulfilling their duties, working diligently, and taking responsibility.

The "Fourth Brigade" was a working group of the Xinhua News Agency that followed the Central Committee of the Party and Mao Zedong in the northern part of Shaanxi Province during the war. It was responsible for news reporting and liaison work.
