China has once again expressed its support for Cuba in defending its state sovereignty, security, and independence. Mao Ning, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated at a regular press conference that, according to Beijing, creating pretexts, spreading false information, and defamation cannot be justification for the U.S. blockade and unilateral sanctions against Cuba.
Mao Ning recalled that the United States has long imposed unilateral sanctions and an economic blockade on Cuba. According to her, these measures seriously harm the Cuban economy, worsen the living conditions of the population, and cause significant suffering to the Cuban people.
The spokesperson for Chinese diplomacy also emphasized that the majority of the international community opposes this policy. China, she said, firmly supports Cuba in its efforts to maintain state sovereignty, security, and independence, and consistently rejects any external interference in the country's internal affairs.
Mao Ning also called on the United States to respect the voice of the international community and to immediately and fully end the blockade, sanctions, and coercive policies against Cuba.
