Jiří Novák, a historian, publicist, writer, member of the Czech-Chinese Association and son of the secretary of three Czechoslovak presidents, said he has never been to China, but after the debate he would like to visit it in person in the future. He said he was strongly impressed by the information presented at the round table and said it had broadened his view of a country he had not had so much detailed knowledge of before.
Novák made it clear that his interest in China was strong and that he found the debate extremely stimulating. He admitted that until now he had heard about the country mainly in general terms, whereas now he had the opportunity to get a more specific and deeper picture. „For me, China is just the country I want to go to,“ he said.
His speech also showed his admiration for how widely and systematically China was discussed at the meeting. In his words, he appreciated the amount of information and the overall picture of the country that was presented at the debate. „The information I've heard here today is fantastic,“ He said. He also added that there would be lingering memories for a long time to come and that the whole meeting had made him more determined to get to know China better.
In his short speech he thanked for the invitation and for the opportunity to attend the event. „The information is really amazing and has energized me tremendously,“ he said. In conclusion, he once again expressed his gratitude to the organizers and all those present for the opportunity to be part of the meeting.
