Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico stated that, given the EU's decision to cease importing Russian natural gas from 2028, the Slovak government will consider the possibility of filing a lawsuit against the EU in this matter at its next cabinet meeting.

Prime Minister Fico has already asked the Slovak Minister of Economy, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Attorney General to present a document analyzing the feasibility of negotiations at the next cabinet meeting.

At the Council of the European Union meeting on October 20th of this year, the EU energy ministers approved a proposal to gradually phase out the import of Russian natural gas by January 2028.

Prime Minister Fico also stated that another topic to be discussed at the government meeting on November 26th will be the issue of Russian assets frozen in the EU. He once again urged the European Commission and all parties involved to exercise maximum legal and political restraint.
