Chinese President Xi Jinping on Saturday sent a congratulatory letter to Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi on the occasion of the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo. Xi expressed his sincere congratulations to Sisi and the Egyptian people and highlighted the importance of the museum to the country's cultural heritage.
President Xi said the Grand Egyptian Museum will leave a deep mark on the history of Egyptian culture and play a key role in preserving and transmitting ancient Egyptian civilization. He also recalled the long-standing friendship between China and Egypt and the blossoming of their comprehensive strategic partnership in recent years.
Xi stressed that the two countries enjoy rich and diverse cultural and people-to-people exchanges. He mentioned the successful exhibition of ancient Egyptian artifacts at the Shanghai Museum and the Sino-Egyptian archaeological team's cooperation in the excavation of the pyramids in Saqqara, which unveils the secrets of ancient Egyptian civilization.
„It is encouraging to see two ancient civilizations reaching out to each other and the two nations growing ever closer through mutual understanding and friendship,“ Xi said. He added that at a time of rapid global change, China and Egypt should continue to deepen exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, strengthen their strategic partnership and contribute to building a community with a shared future for humanity.
