International Comparability

All the figures mentioned above are seasonally adjusted. They refer to the age group of 15-64 years. They come from the Labor Force Survey (VŠPS), which is conducted by the ČSÚ's own survey network in households, and are methodologically different from the administrative data of the Czech Labor Office regarding registered job seekers (specifically, the indicator "Unemployment Rate").

The VŠPS has a methodology that is internationally comparable, which defines employed and unemployed individuals in accordance with the recommendations of the International Labour Organization. The ČSÚ regularly sends data from this survey to Eurostat, which prepares monthly overviews of unemployment for EU member states, but for the age group of 15-74 years. The unemployment rate for this age group (15-74) in the Czech Republic was 2.6% in October 2024.

In accordance with the international methodology for the VŠPS, the survey is only conducted in private households and does not cover mass accommodation facilities or temporary shelters.
