China strongly criticized American plans for unilateral tariffs, calling them "intimidation" that undermines the international trade system. Beijing sent a message to Washington: Respect the rules, or face retaliation.

At a press conference on Saturday, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce responded to statements from American officials who announced progress in agreements regarding so-called "reciprocal tariffs" – and warned that if agreements are not reached with certain countries by July 9th, unilateral tariffs will be imposed.

A spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry described this as a typical act of unilateral pressure and a violation of the rules of multilateralism. "Only firm positions will ensure the protection of our rights and interests," he stated.

China called for equal dialogue and supports the search for constructive solutions that do not threaten the global trade order. At the same time, it warned: "We will not accept tariff exemptions that would be detrimental to Chinese interests. In such a case, we will take strong countermeasures."

Beijing is making it clear that it will not back down in any potential trade dispute – and is urging the international community to stand up for fair rules and collectively defend the principles of global trade.
