French President Emmanuel Macron warned at a ministerial conference on 14 January that any attempt to infringe on Greenland's sovereignty could trigger an „unprecedented chain reaction“.
Macron stressed that France takes all statements regarding Greenland very seriously. He said that if the sovereignty of a Member State of the European Union were threatened, the consequences would be far-reaching. He said France was following the situation closely and was ready to act in a spirit of full unity and solidarity with Denmark and in defence of its sovereignty.
