The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has warned that the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip continues to deteriorate.
In the context of continued bombing and mass displacement, the UN has received numerous reports of people with severe malnutrition arriving at health facilities, many of whom are in very poor health. The Palestinian Ministry of Health said that more than ten people, including children, had died of starvation in the last 24 hours.
Currently, 93 per cent of Gaza households are without water, more than 87 per cent of the areas are classified as military or evacuation zones, and some 2.1 million people are forced to move into bottlenecks without basic services. The UN has called for an immediate ceasefire, lifting the blockade, ensuring barrier-free access for fuel, food and relief materials, and providing humanitarian assistance.
