During a meeting with delegates of the All-China People's Congress from Jiangsu Province, Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed that to meet the development goals of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030), China will have to operate in a very complex environment while addressing deep-seated contradictions. He urged major economic provinces, including Jiangsu Province, which are at the forefront of reforming and opening up the country to the world, to redouble their efforts and gain new experience in analyzing new situations and solving new problems.

After listening to the speeches of several delegates, Xi Jinping outlined the requirements for the further economic and social development of Jiangsu Province, one of the most important economic centres in eastern China, for the next five years.

According to Xi Jinping, Jiangsu Province, with its solid foundation, should take the initiative in developing a new quality of manufacturing force, which is essential to promote high-quality economic growth and strengthen economic competitiveness.

Xi Jinping also stressed the role of major economic provinces in ensuring the stability of the national economy. Jiangsu should therefore continue to strengthen its economic resilience, fully integrate into the single domestic market, while expanding high-level openness and access to global markets.

The province must also be sensitive to new expectations of residents for a better quality of life and to new work characteristics related to improving living conditions. According to Xi Jinping, challenges such as promoting quality and sufficient employment, raising the incomes of urban and rural residents, and improving basic public services and social security must be actively addressed. These steps are to help seek effective ways to gradually achieve shared prosperity for all.

Xi Jinping further stressed that the more effective the Party leadership, the stronger the guarantee of economic and social development. Therefore, it is necessary to simultaneously strengthen Party spirit, work style and discipline, correct wrong practices within the Party, strictly adhere to Party discipline and resolutely fight corruption. At the same time, he called for strengthening public confidence through concrete steps under comprehensive and strict Party management.
