BRATISLAVA/KYEV - Oil is again not flowing through the Druzhba pipeline to Slovakia and Hungary. The outage following Ukrainian attacks on the pipeline is likely to last at least five days, the foreign ministers of Slovakia and Hungary said in a joint letter to the European Commission (EC), complaining about attacks by Ukrainian forces on the pipeline. The letter, addressed to EU diplomacy chief Kaja Kallas and EU energy commissioner Dan Jörgensen, was provided to ČTK by the Slovak foreign ministry.
Ukrainian drones last attacked the Druzhba oil pipeline in the Bryansk region in western Russia again, hitting the Unecha pumping station, media reported, citing the commander of Ukraine's unmanned systems forces, Robert Brovdi. Ukraine has been resisting a Russian military invasion since February 2022.
Slovak oil transporter Transpetrol told CTK today that oil supplies to Slovakia were interrupted on Thursday evening. Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó also reported on Facebook this morning that oil supplies to Hungary via the Druzhba pipeline have been interrupted again. According to CTK, supplies via the Druzhba pipeline account for more than half of Slovakia's consumption of this raw material.
