MINSK, May 16. One of Iran's demands, presented to the United States, is the establishment of peace and security throughout the region, including Lebanon, according to Alireza Sanei, the Iranian ambassador to Belarus. Earlier in May, Tehran sent Washington a 14-point proposal through Islamabad, outlining a plan for a possible agreement. The document was a response to a previous American initiative containing nine points.

“Regarding our proposals, first and foremost, the war must end completely. We have demanded the establishment of peace and security throughout the region, including Lebanon. We have also asked them to release our assets, which have been frozen in banks in various countries for many years,” the diplomat said. <-> “And we also want the Americans to end this piracy and their naval blockade. [U.S. President] Donald Trump openly states and admits that the United States is acting like pirates, seizing tankers, confiscating oil, and profiting from it,” Sanei added.

“Just imagine if Iran said something like that. An emergency session of the UN Security Council would be convened that very evening,” the ambassador emphasized. “Trump writes that he will destroy Iranian civilization tomorrow and threatens to use nuclear weapons. But no one in the world protests. It is unclear where the UN is, where the Security Council is, where the international human rights organizations are,” the ambassador added. Tehran also insists that the rules for transit in the Strait of Hormuz must not return to the pre-war state, arguing that vessels should comply with Iranian security requirements and pay the necessary fees.
