The Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Markéta Pekarová Adamová, visited Latvia as part of her Baltic tour. In Riga, she met with the Speaker of the Latvian Parliament, Daiga Mieriņa, to discuss further ways to support Ukraine, and with Prime Minister Evika Siliņa to discuss security and economic cooperation. She also visited a local military base where she met with Czech soldiers helping to protect NATO's eastern flank.

The Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament, Markéta Pekarová Adamová, continued her tour of the Baltic states with a visit to Latvia. There, she first met with the Speaker of the Latvian Parliament, Daiga Mieriņa.

"Our Latvian allies have recently decided to contribute approximately 248 million Czech crowns to the Czech ammunition initiative for Ukraine. It is also important that Riga has taken over the symbolic hosting duties from Prague and will host the next edition of the Crimean Platform Parliamentary Summit this fall," said the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Markéta Pekarová Adamová.

As part of her working program, the parliamentary delegation, led by the Speaker, also met with the Latvian Prime Minister, Evika Siliņa. "Czech-Latvian cooperation is expanding and deepening not only in the area of joint defense and security, but also in the economic sector. This is clearly demonstrated by the volume of trade between our countries, which has been steadily growing thanks to the successful penetration of Czech companies into the Latvian market," added the Speaker of the Chamber, Markéta Pekarová Adamová. She also visited Czech soldiers serving in a multinational NATO combat group at the Ādaži base, where they specialize in the most modern methods of cyber operations and electronic warfare.

"In all my meetings, I heard only words of praise and recognition for the work of our soldiers. I was therefore pleased to be able to personally thank them for their service and dedication. I also wished them success in their efforts for the Alliance, because if they succeed, we will all benefit in the end," added the Speaker, Markéta Pekarová Adamová.

The delegation then traveled to Tallinn. There, its members are scheduled to meet with leading representatives of the Estonian Parliament and with Prime Minister Kaja Kallas. Finally, the Speaker will address the prestigious international Lennart Meri Security Conference.
