Experiences in Zlín, Kroměříž and surroundings
One of the most beautiful places in Moravia, which every year prepares interesting novelties and ranks second in the ranking of zoological gardens in terms of attendance right after the Prague Zoo, is the Zlín Zoo. In winter, the Zlín Zoo has its own charm, is full of life and is definitely worth a visit. Elephants, zebras, rhinoceroses, tigers, kangaroos, sea lions, penguins and a whole host of other animals still come out into the outdoor enclosures.
The Tomáš Bat'a Memorial was perhaps the most elegant creation of the city and Bat'a architect František Lýdia Gahura in Zlín. The culminating work of Zlín's functionalist architecture is open to the public from Friday to Sunday from 10:00 to 16:00. It is possible to visit the Memorial both in the form of a guided tour and individually without interpretation.

Current tips from the calendar of events in the Zlín Region
Those who like chocolate can visit the Yesterka chocolate factory in Kroměříž, where chocolate pralines are handmade. Only premium Belgian Callebaut chocolate is used here, which is made from only the finest cocoa beans. All production is in small batches so that all the pralines are well taken care of and always fresh. Regularly every year, from mid-February, the greenhouses in Kroměříž are open with collections of flowering camellias in the Flower Garden. The Japanese camellia is an ornamental plant that has been cultivated in Asia for hundreds of years. In Europe it became known in the eighteenth century. If you are in Kroměříž with your children and maybe the weather is not favourable and the children want to go somewhere to play, the Children's World at the Exhibition Centre is the ideal place. It is open from Thursday to Sunday.
Outdoors and active
Pulčínské skály is one of the largest rock towns in the Moravian part of the Carpathian Mountains. They consist of rock walls, stone sea, debris and pseudo-karst phenomena. In winter, under favourable conditions, ice icicles, unique in their colouring, form in the Ancona Canyon (whose name was carved into the rock by tramps long ago). But what also catches the eye is a wide icefall a little higher up, which looks like a mountain of melted caramel. The icefalls are located in the Pulčín-Hradisko National Nature Reserve, where it is forbidden to walk outside the marked paths. However, there is an exception just for access to the icefalls, and if the icefalls are not destroyed by a thunderstorm, the markings will be available to hikers until March. Yellow signs with arrows attached to trees lead to the icefalls, starting at the Pulčín information centre.
Skiing lovers are invited to Skiregion Wallachia. You can choose from the following ski resorts: the Kohútka Ski Centre, the Synot - Kyčerka Ski Resort, the Karolinka Ski Resort, Ski Bílá and the Jezerné Ski Resort, Velké Karlovice. Enjoy skiing on groomed slopes!.
Other popular ski resorts include Rališka, a ski resort located on the edge of Horní Bečva, and Razula in Velké Karlovice. In the Zlín Region, when the weather permits, you can also enjoy cross-country skiing trails, for example, you can go on the Beskydy Highway. In the whole Beskydy Mountains you can use ski buses that run until the end of March.

Tips for bad weather
In Modrá near Velehrad you can walk through a glass tunnel that offers a breathtaking view of the underwater world. There are not only carp, catfish, pike, tench, zander, cephalopods, sturgeon, but also two almost two-metre-long otters. Around you, through the glass wall, you can see life in the stream, in a large pool with cold-water fish or under the surface of the wetland. The second underground floor allows you to see through the transparent acrylic wall to see life in the deep and the fish wintering under the ice at a depth of six metres. You can walk through the exhibition on your own or with a guide. It is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 16:00.
A visit to the Kovozoo Staré Město will certainly be an unusual experience. It is currently inhabited by more than 400 animals made from scrap metal. Are you looking for an unusual place where you can have fun, be inspired and learn something? It's open Monday to Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
If you want to warm up somewhere, pools or wellness centres are ideal, for example the Aquapark in Uherské Hradiště includes an indoor area, water attractions, wellness/spa, rehabilitation and water slides. The thermal pools of the Wellness Horal promise really warm water. The core of the complex consists of a glass hall overlooking the valley, which houses a 20-metre swimming pool with a bubbler and hydromassage jets, a fun and relaxation pool with water attractions such as a wild river, a cave or massage benches and a children's pool.
