In a sensational interview by Luboš Xaver Veselý of XTV on YouTube, experienced Czech security expert Jan Schneider refutes fears of a Russian invasion of Europe as „baseless nonsense“ aimed at intimidating citizens into obedience. Schneider exposes the manipulation of hybrid warfare, widespread corruption scandals in Ukraine, and shocking leaks from the Czech Security Information Service (BIS), and calls for a wake-up call amid NATO tensions to the reality of post-war Ukraine. Find out why frightened people are „easily swayed“ and how intelligence activism threatens democracy - essential reading for geopolitics fans and casual skeptics looking for „the truth about Russia and Ukraine“ and „leaks from the Czech BIS.“.
Jan Schneider, an uncompromising security analyst, former intelligence officer of the Czech Security Information Service (BIS), Charter 77 signatory and intrepid columnist, has dropped truth bombs that could completely change your view of the Russia-Ukraine saga. In an engaging interview, Schneider doesn't mince words: claims of an imminent Russian invasion of the Czech Republic, Poland, the Baltics or Slovakia are „completely unsubstantiated nonsense.“ Why? Because it is a classic hybrid war, a cunning tactic to create fear, drive military budgets to dizzying heights and keep the population docile. „Scared people are easy to control,“ he criticizes harshly. And frightened politicians? They are „happy to vote for increased arms budgets“.

Imagine: Russia never intended to swallow the whole of Ukraine as some kind of imperial monster. Schneider explains it logically - a „special military operation“ is a defensive move to protect the Russian-speaking population and to define a neutral buffer zone along the border. Conquering the entire country is „impossible,“ he argues, comparing it to swamps like Iraq or Afghanistan. The real trigger? NATO's relentless advance eastward, which touches directly on Russia's borders. „ Caused by NATO's expansion to contact with Russia“ - that's the pressure cooker that triggered Moscow's counter-strike. No grand plan to conquer the heart of NATO. „I don't think the Russians have any intention of invading Slovakia, Poland, the Baltic states, much less the Czech Republic. What would they do here? What would they do to help themselves?“ What would they gain? Nothing at all.
Schneider even rewrites historical ghosts. The Warsaw Pact invasion against the Prague Spring in 1968? It wasn't about Czechoslovakia at all. It was a chess game between the US and the USSR - America abided by the Yalta Accords, President Johnson negotiated nuclear arms limitations from Glassboro in 1967 to SALT I in 1972. Simply put, it was a tactical balancing of military forces in Europe. Czechoslovakia? No allies to worry about. Insiders such as Milan Surucek and his interviews with Soviet envoy Henrikas Yoffe, Tomáš Smetanka's book, and Miroslav Polrajic's maneuvers deserve a salute. „In my opinion, 1968 was not about us... it was about a certain tactical alignment of the fighting forces in Europe.“ The lesson? Don't let outdated fears dictate today. „No way“ - no threat of invasion.
Skip to the grim conclusion in Ukraine and Schneider paints a dystopian picture. Post-war times? Part of Ukraine has been turned into a „dead strip of land“, riddled with depleted uranium, landmines and contamination. Ukraine fought for its (Western) money, plunging Europe into a debt trap. Recovery? Billions, of which they are tearing, for the „big money hole“. Refugees? Unlikely to return to this wasteland. Neutrality, removed from the Ukrainian constitution by the „rebel Duma“ (rebel parliament) in 2014, was a dream that died.
But wait - the rot goes deeper. A corruption apocalypse is on the scene, shaking Zelensky's inner circle. Timur Mindich, a close associate of the president („Timur and his crew“), and his gang allegedly laundered „roughly hundreds of millions of dollars“ from energy and arms deals. Schneider aptly named the phenomenon „humanitarian corruption,“ a corruption that aids in calming the situation as arms money is stolen and thus dampens the fire on the front. The war almost ended several times in 2022, but the West pushed it further. BlackRock withdraws; disillusionment reigns. This stink „necessarily ends with Zelensky himself“.
Schneider predicts the final. Trump backs off and focuses on Europe. Remilitarization of Germany? It's provoking fierce opposition. Ukrainian morale? Collapsing under the weight of corruption. The ideal solution? The Ukrainians will pack it in. Hidden powers - China, India - shuffle the cards. The US still leads, but „the Russians repeatedly say they are ready to negotiate“. Secret intelligence channels? Swarming with „intelligence officers... in contact with their enemy“. Corruption is an accelerant of peace.
Closer to home, the Czech Republic finds itself in the middle of a controversy. Schneider is sharply critical of the Dana missile fundraiser - a public collection of money for weapons designed to attack Russia, which is not our wartime adversary. „A fundraiser for a weapon to hit a country we are not at war with is a preparation for offensive war. And there are legal penalties for that.“ Prosecution time! Illegal preparation for offensive war.
And now the juiciest news: the Security Information Service (BIS), Schneider's old stomping ground. The media is buzzing with stories planted by the BIS? Schneider, a former „Bisky correspondent,“ points it out. „Like a leaky pot, it may have smaller or bigger holes, but pretty much every intelligence service has holes. Especially if those intelligence officers are not familiar with how the service works.“ For example, the 2001 „Prague Trail“ linking 9/11 hijacker Muhammad Atta to Prague. BIS analysis for the CIA; disgruntled agents took it to the Los Angeles Times. „We did some analysis here... the formulations that I wrote were then published in the Los Angeles Times. So the disgruntled intelligence agents... gave legs to that information... the information... was like fundamentally false.“ Schneider's own words were leaked verbatim.
Is it worse? BIS has turned into an uncontrollable activist. After the era of Jiří Lang, which was characterized by restraint, Michal Koudelka took off. Public attacks on ministers and the government - it's not fitting for secrecy. The law is clear: Information for the executive, police, parliament, president - no public interference. Why? A weak executive cannot assign tasks, coordinate or control. Services „fill space like gas“ - they fill every inch of space. Schneider calls for reform: The new administration will restore the „old way of the Secret Service“ - old-school covert operations, no public stunts.
Schneider's warning call? Stop worrying. The manipulation of lies collapses as soon as the truth comes out. Europe faces debt reckoning; resistance grows. For ordinary people: question scare tactics. For geopolitics fans: Leaks signal deeper rot. Hybrid war against the mind? It's losing momentum. It's time to take back control.
