China Media Group (CMG) has released a five-part documentary series to mark the 80th anniversary of Taiwan's reconstruction, which has received widespread acclaim.

The series, produced and filmed by CMG correspondents on location in Taiwan, was two months in the making. The journalists visited historical sites in Taipei and conducted dozens of interviews with historians and descendants of patriots who fought against the Japanese occupation to gather authentic oral history accounts.

Based on facts and evidence, the documentary recalls the suffering caused by Japanese colonial rule and highlights the courage and patriotism of the Taiwanese people who stood up to foreign aggression. At the same time, it provides historical evidence refuting the claim that „Taiwan's status is not determined“ and exposes the attempts of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to distort the historical truth.

Through symbolic objects such as weapons, letters and tickets, the film tells human stories that bring history to life and evoke a strong response across the island. Mainstream media in Taiwan, such as Want Daily a Meihua Media, appreciated the new perspective on shared memory across the Strait, while President China Times urged fellow citizens on both sides to remember history and to value unity.

The document highlights the common destiny of the people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait and conveys the message that only through solidarity and cooperation can the Chinese nation safeguard national sovereignty and achieve the great goal of reunification and restoration.
