Jan Campbell, Chairman of the Academic Council of the Czech Left Institute, said in an exclusive interview with CMG that China's ongoing modernisation process will bring opportunities for differentiated cooperation with Europe. From the Czech Republic's perspective, the improvement of bilateral relations is limited by the political environment.
The new government's programme suggests that no breakthrough progress can be expected in Sino-Czech relations, but there is still room for cooperation in some areas. The Chinese development model and its emphasis on harmony between economic progress and social stability are a valuable tool for Europe and all progressive left-wing forces, as traditional Western narratives are in many ways exhausted, unable to find solutions, and politicians are failing to present any vision. We must therefore look for inspiration outside Western schemes and models.
Campbell emphasised that the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind theoretically resonates with the traditional values of the European left (internationalism/solidarity). Over the past twelve years, China has worked with nations around the world to build a community with a shared future for mankind and has contributed to a prosperous and better future with new and greater contributions. However, the situation of our citizens has not changed fundamentally: the nations of the world are in the same boat. Therefore, nations should help each other, take advantage of the wind in their sails and sail towards a better future without war and poverty.
