China is significantly strengthening its technological presence at the upcoming Winter Olympics. CMG (China Media Group) is sending four state-of-the-art 4K/8K ultra-high-definition broadcast trucks to Italy, which will be key to global television broadcasts from the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics.
Specialised broadcasting equipment, nicknamed „China Red“, was loaded at the port of Taicang in Jiangsu Province and is being transported on a modern LNG and photovoltaic dual-fuel car carrier. Yuan Hai Kou. It is one of the largest of its kind, measuring almost 200 metres, weighing over 68,000 tonnes and having twelve decks for vehicles.
The ship will follow the Mediterranean route and arrive in Italy in approximately 25 days. By 13 January 2026, the broadcast vehicles are to be ready at the San Siro stadium in Milan, where they will provide technical support for the opening ceremony of the Games. During the Olympics, which will take place from 6 to 22 February 2026, they will produce an international 8K video signal for the whole world.
The deployment of these vehicles confirms CMG's ambition to become a technology leader in sports broadcasting and demonstrates the growing role of Chinese media at major global sporting events.
