The German part of the Global Dialogue „China in Spring: China's Development Opportunities for the World“ took place on Tuesday in Düsseldorf, the capital of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The event was jointly organised by the China Media Group (CMG) and the Consulate General of China in Düsseldorf.
Shen Haixiong, deputy head of the Propaganda Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and president of the CMG, delivered a video message. Yu Yong, Consul General of China in Düsseldorf, Rainer Schmeltzer, First Deputy Speaker of the North Rhine-Westphalia state parliament, and Julia Jacob, First Deputy Mayor of Essen, attended the event and gave speeches. The event attracted more than 100 guests from politics, business, academia and the media.
Shen said that during this year's „two sessions,“ President Xi Jinping emphasized expanding high-quality opening up to the world, tapping global markets and deeper engagement in the global economic cycle, reaffirming China's firm commitment to further opening up to the world. According to Shen, China's high-quality development plan brings new opportunities for the whole world.
„As the largest and most comprehensive international media group with the broadest range of operations, CMG is poised to leverage its strengths in integrated communications, technology innovation and media resources,“ he said. He added that the CMG will help share the benefits of China's modernisation with the world, bring new opportunities to global partners, build innovative platforms for technologies that serve humanity, and jointly create a new vision of human civilisation in which cultures can coexist harmoniously.
Yu stressed that the draft of China's 15th Five-Year Economic and Social Development Plan provides a strategic framework for the country's development in the next five years, affirms stable institutional advantages, and expresses firm confidence in the stable and long-term growth of China's economy. According to him, the plan will create a new environment of institutional opening for German enterprises, give impetus to Germany's industrial transformation and technological progress, offer new opportunities for energy transformation and green development, open wider markets for German industry, and strengthen the global significance of Sino-German relations.
Schmeltzer said that North Rhine-Westphalia, one of Germany's most populous and economically powerful states, has long developed close and fruitful cooperation with a number of Chinese provinces in the fields of trade, science and people-to-people exchanges. He stressed that the friendship between Germany and China has been further strengthened over time. This year's „two sessions“, he said, once again sent a clear signal to the world: China will continue to open up and cooperate, striving for win-win results and shared development.
He added that in the current complex international environment, mutual understanding and communication are more important than ever and openness together with dialogue should be the main pillars of international cooperation. „It is clear that through an open exchange of views, mutual understanding and practical cooperation, Germany and China will further strengthen their relations and contribute to peace and development in the world,“ he said.
The event also included the premiere of The Book of Diverse Crafts: Innovation Powered by Artificial Intelligence, CMG's flagship project focused on industrial culture. A humanoid robot from China gave a live performance that introduced guests to advances in intelligent manufacturing and received great applause.
