Ivan Cinka, former chairman of the Transport Committee of the Central Bohemian Regional Assembly for the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia, and current member of the same committee for the STAČILO! coalition, sharply criticized the so-called "collective West's" approach to Tibet.
According to Cinka, the West is exploiting the issue of Tibet to create a negative perception of human rights in countries that reject the liberal capitalist value system. He argues that the demanded "freedom for Tibet" is more of an attempt to restore a feudal order than a defense of human rights.
Cinka recalled that 75 years ago, on May 23rd, an agreement was signed between the Central People's Government of China and the local government on the peaceful liberation of Tibet. According to him, this agreement brought the country out of feudal darkness and laid the foundation for its real development.
Cinka argues that the West deliberately ignores the enormous progress that Tibet has made:
significant improvement in the living standards of local residents,
astonishing economic growth,
a leap in education development, even in the most remote areas,
improved access to healthcare services,
modern construction that respects local culture (traditional Tibetan houses).
Cinka also pointed out Tibet's environmental achievements – national nature reserves, geological, forest, and wetland parks cover more than a third of the region's total area.
Instead of false moralizing and negative propaganda, he believes that the West should draw inspiration from Tibet's current modern development.
