Just as the sun shines in the sky, so does the sun shine in us. Thus, by the sun sign we can see how our personal Sun wants to shine. How it wants to shine. What it wants to illuminate. How and in what it wants to "overlight" others. In what it wants to make itself visible.

He may want to assert himself or win (Aries). Or to create (Leo, Libra, Pisces). Or to know more (Gemini, Sagittarius). Or to organize work, people, society appropriately (Virgo, Capricorn). Or to illuminate what is hidden (Scorpio, Pisces). Or to be an authority to those closest to you (Cancer, Leo, Libra). Or to shine with prosperity (Taurus) or your uniqueness (Aquarius). Again, I'm just picking a few of the possible characteristics.

Thus, by the sign in which we have the Sun, we can recognize to some extent how our Self wants to be radiant. What we want to shine in. In what we want to be the natural authority. We may not even be aware of these tendencies! They manifest - more or less - as a certain "innate" inclination. As a certain tendency in our behaviour. It is even more or less true, even if we are only critical of astrology.

Astrology arose from empiricism and intuition and is a mirror of

Of course, from the point of view of a "rigorous" science striving for accuracy, astrology is just "science". Indeed, astrology is not a science - it is rather at the border of art, psychology, esotericism and a little bit of science. It grows out of the ancient and ever-living and ever-changing experience of people and the ancient and ever-living intuition of people.

You must be familiar with the theory of temperaments, which originated in ancient medicine. The theory was developed by Galenos (129-199 AD) according to Hippocrates (460-370 BC).

He established four temperaments (sanguine - choleric - melancholic - phlegmatic) based on four body fluids. Black bile was wrongly considered one of them in antiquity and in the Middle Ages. Thus, although this theory has "disproved" assumptions, the typology itself continues to be more or less valid. Rather, it has been informed by experience and intuition (insight) as to the nature of people.

Even in astrology, "As above, so below."

Similarly, astrology has its own truth, which is not based on "scientific" foundations. I suppose I don't have to convince you of that. What I do want to emphasize, however, is the principle of "As above, so below, so above". Perhaps the most important word in it is JAK, the key word for PŘIROVNÁNÍ - pro analogie.

It is not the physical sun in the sky, which in a certain sign at our birth would be the physical cause of some of our character tendencies. After all, we may have been born on a deep night when the Sun was on the opposite side to the globe. That particular position of the Sun in the zodiac at birth only REVEALS those dispositions that are "intertwined" with that particular zodiacal sign.

Of course, the Sun has a physical effect as well. Sometimes it makes us feel warm, sometimes its explosions cause increased electrical voltage and we get irritated, etc. But these physical influences are not related to what I am going to write about in the context of psychological astrology.

In psychological astrology, indeed in modern astrology in general, the whole cosmic framework with its astrologically utilized elements is seen as the MIRROR of man. It is the same with looking into the surface of the water. The water surface mirrors our face. It is not the cause of our form.

How did people figure out the cosmic mirror? Well, I already mentioned that. Based on vast experience and intuition. And who created the possibility of a mirror? We don't know. That's a question for you to try to answer for yourself.

The sun as a symbol of our conscious self

Back to the sun. The sun sheds its brightness on the Earth and all that it illuminates. Consciousness plays a similar role in us. That which enters the "light" is what we are aware of. Therefore, the Sun symbolizes consciousness in man, not the unconscious. In fact, the Enlightenment benefited from this analogy when they called their epoch "the Enlightenment". They meant precisely the epoch of reason, of knowledge, of knowing.

In psychological astrology, the Sun also symbolizes warmth, spontaneity, pride or even pride. The ability to give oneself to others or to the world (as the Sun gives us its energy). It is also related to such important traits as self-confidence, self-actualization (Self - Sun). According to the sign of the Sun at our birth (and therefore in our horoscope) we can infer how our Self, self-esteem and self-actualization manifest. Of course, in psychological astrology we view the Sun in the horoscope in yet other contexts (constellations, aspects), but I leave that aside for now.

By the position of the Sun we can infer how our self manifests.

The sun "in itself" is therefore a symbol of the psychic reflector, the light. It is the symbol of consciousness. A symbol of the conscious self. That is, of that with which our conscious self somehow more easily identifies. In fact, instead of saying that the self is what we know about ourselves, we should say that the self is only what we think we know about ourselves. And that's usually not enough. What about our unconscious, the emotions that our consciousness doesn't command - to arise or not to arise?

The Sun sign is far from being the only thing that characterizes our personality. At least the sign of the Moon is also important.
