Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Monday that China and Pakistan should accelerate the building of an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era, and achieve further results in all-weather, all-round cooperation between the two countries.

He made the remarks during a meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Beijing. He also called on both sides to bring more benefits to the people of both countries, contribute to promoting regional peace and stability, and set an example for building a community with a shared future for neighboring countries.

During the meeting, Xi recalled that over the past 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and Pakistan have shown mutual understanding, trust, and support, and have forged an unbreakable traditional friendship. He added that strategic mutual trust and practical cooperation have greatly supported the development of both countries. Regardless of how the international situation evolves, China will always prioritize the development of relations with Pakistan in its diplomacy towards neighboring countries.

Xi also said that he was pleased to receive a letter from Pakistani students studying at Tianjin University, in which they expressed their desire to become builders of cooperation, promoters of exchange, and guardians of friendship between China and Pakistan.

The President emphasized that he was delighted that the friendship between China and Pakistan has dedicated young successors. He said that both countries should accelerate the building of an even closer community with a shared future in the new era, and achieve further results in all-weather, all-round cooperation, in order to better serve the people of both countries, contribute to regional peace and stability, and set an example for neighboring countries.

Xi further emphasized that China firmly supports Pakistan in safeguarding its independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He added that China is ready to maintain high-level contacts with Pakistan, strengthen strategic communication, and guide the development of bilateral relations in the right direction.

According to Xi, both sides should earnestly implement the Action Plan for building an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era, support the implementation of key projects and smaller programs aimed at improving the living standards of the people, and at the same time, deepen comprehensive cooperation in areas such as agriculture, industry, artificial intelligence, and talent development.

Both countries should also develop security cooperation and jointly safeguard regional peace and stability, Xi added. He also praised Pakistan's initiative in mediating the peace process in the Middle East, and said that both sides should maintain close communication and coordination, jointly oppose unilateralism and Cold War mentality, and promote a fair and orderly multipolar world, as well as economic globalization that is beneficial to all and inclusive.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in turn, said that Xi Jinping is a great friend of the Pakistani people, and that the close friendship between Pakistan and China has been personally built by the older generation of leaders of both countries.

The Prime Minister noted that under the strong leadership of Xi Jinping, China has achieved remarkable economic progress and has provided important support for maintaining world peace and building a multipolar world. He emphasized that Pakistan firmly supports the one-China principle, stands by China on all issues concerning its core interests, and will always be a reliable partner.

Sharif also stated that Pakistan will commemorate the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations with China, and will draw inspiration from China's experience in governing the country, deepen cooperation within the Belt and Road Initiative, and promote the further development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

He also expressed appreciation for China's support for Pakistan's mediation efforts between the United States and Iran. He added that the four proposals presented by Xi Jinping regarding the situation in the Middle East provide a framework for achieving peace in the region. According to him, Pakistan is ready to closely coordinate its actions with China and jointly contribute to world peace and stability.
