Chinese President Xi Jinping has responded to a letter from Chinese and American students who participated in the "Joint Voyage: China-U.S. Youth Friendship Program." In his message, he encouraged them to contribute to the stable, healthy, and sustainable development of relations between China and the United States.

"I am pleased that students from both countries have completed an unforgettable voyage of friendship aboard the China-US Youth Friendship," said Xi Jinping. He also emphasized that the story of China-U.S. friendship is being written by the people themselves, and that the future of relations between the two countries is in the hands of the younger generation.

The President recalled the initiative announced in November 2023, which aimed to invite 50,000 young Americans to China for study and exchange visits over five years. According to Xi Jinping, this goal has been achieved well ahead of schedule.

"Since the launch of this initiative, more than 50,000 young Americans have visited China, achieving the set goal two and a half years ahead of schedule," he said.

According to him, these interactions have allowed young people from both countries to build personal relationships, get to know each other better, forge deep friendships, and open a new chapter of friendly exchanges between the Chinese and American peoples.

Xi Jinping emphasized that young people represent the future and hope not only for relations between China and the United States, but also for the entire world.

"Young people, full of energy and dreams, represent the future and hope for China-U.S. relations and the future of the world," he said.

He therefore called on more young people from both countries to take up the baton of friendship, learn from each other, move forward together, and become "ambassadors of friendship" who connect both sides of the Pacific Ocean.

Students thank for exchange program

The letter, to which Xi Jinping responded, was recently sent by Chinese and American students involved in the "Joint Voyage: China-U.S. Youth Friendship Program."

In their letter to the President, they thanked him for the "50,000 in five years" initiative, which they said has created valuable opportunities for education, exchange of experiences, and mutual understanding among young people from both countries.

The participants of the program particularly appreciated the opportunity for personal meetings, joint study, and cultural exchanges, which they believe contribute to better understanding between the younger generation of China and the United States.
