Chinese President Xi Jinping chaired a meeting of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China to assess the performance of major state institutions and set priorities for the next period. The meeting was held at the famous Great Hall of the People complex in Beijing.
The meeting took up the report of the Politburo Standing Committee on the consideration of the working reports of the leading party groups of the highest state organs, including the Parliament, the Government, the Political Consultative Body, the Supreme Court and the Supreme Prosecutor's Office. The work of the Secretariat of the Central Committee was also considered.
Positive assessment of 2025 results
Participants at the meeting confirmed that the main institutions had met their objectives and made a significant contribution to completing the tasks of the past year. According to the conclusions of the meeting, the organs have consistently upheld the unified leadership of the Party Central Committee and contributed to the successful completion of the 14th Five-Year Plan.
The Secretariat of the Central Committee was praised for implementing the decisions of the Party leadership and for coordinating extensive administrative and organizational tasks.
Focus on the new five-year plan
According to the party leadership, the year 2026 marks an important milestone as it begins the 15th Five-Year Plan period and also marks the 105th anniversary of the party's founding. The Politburo called on the various institutions to fully align their actions with the long-term strategic goals of economic and social development.
The main objective is to ensure a stable start to the new five-year period and to continue the modernisation reforms. At the same time, the Secretariat is to ensure the quality performance of all tasks entrusted by the central leadership.
