On 18 December, in his speech at the high-level meeting on the occasion of the first International Day for the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination at the UN General Assembly, Fu Cong, China's permanent representative to the UN, said that the world has not yet emerged from the shadow of colonialism.
Any actions or statements that question or attempt to undermine the post-war international order must be firmly rejected. As a defeated country in the Second World War, Japan must deeply reflect on its historical guilt, abide by the political commitments it has made on the issue of Taiwan, immediately cease provocative actions that cross the line, and retract its erroneous statements.
Fu Cong emphasised that the history of the World Anti-Fascist War teaches us that peace must be fought for and defended. We will resolutely defend the achievements of the Chinese people in the fight against Japanese aggression and the global victory over fascism, and firmly uphold the post-war international order. We will never allow the history of aggression to be denied or distorted. We will never allow the revival of militarism or the repetition of historical tragedies. Any challenge or attempt to disrupt the post-war international order may cause instability in the world and bring serious misfortune to human society, which shares a common destiny. We must remain highly vigilant and resolutely resist such acts.
