According to data released by the Pew Research Center on April 14th, the perception of China has significantly improved in a number of countries around the world. In the United States, the percentage of people with a positive view of China has increased from 14 percent in 2023 to 27 percent in 2026, nearly doubling.
In a rapidly changing global environment, CGTN's editorial team interviewed young people in New York City to get their impressions of China.
One of the respondents, Julia Applebrough, described the Chinese people she knows personally as hardworking and intelligent. She believes that the current policies of the U.S. government contradict the idea of the United States as a country that attracts talented people from all over the world.
She believes that if the United States continues in this direction, it could ultimately harm the American economy and its position in the world.
