From May 19th to 27th, the 78th World Health Organization (WHO) Assembly is being held in Geneva, Switzerland, with the main theme of "One Health."

The WHO Assembly will review the two-year budget for 2026 and 2027, which is part of the 14th General Programme of Work of the World Health Organization (from 2025 to 2028). In response to real financial pressures, the budget has been reduced from the originally planned $5.3 billion to $4.267 billion.

In addition, the WHO Assembly will promote sustainable financing reform. A high-level financing event will be held on May 20th, and countries and charitable organizations are encouraged to support the core activities of the World Health Organization.

The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, described this assembly as a "historic moment" that symbolizes the entry into a crucial phase of global health cooperation.
