  • The decision by the National Palace Museum in Taipei to send some of the most valuable artifacts of Chinese cultural history – the Jadeite Cabbage and other Chinese national treasures – abroad and exhibit them in Prague, is a step that cannot be seen simply as a cultural exchange of national treasures or a gesture. Amid geopolitical tensions, the disruption of official contacts between the office of the President of the Czech Republic and the People's Republic of China, and the growing competition between Beijing and Taipei, this step raises serious questions about security, political symbolism, and respect for the "one China" principle.   • PRAGUE – Significant changes in the Czech asylum and immigration system will come into effect from January 2026. President Petr Pavel has signed an amendment to the law, which, according to its proponents from the coalition parliamentary group, will speed up the processing of applications for international protection, limit its abuse, and improve the overview of the movement and residence of asylum seekers and migrants.   • WASHINGTON - The Trump administration announced on Thursday that it is reviewing all 55 million foreign nationals holding US visas, and warned that any violations could lead to the immediate revocation of visas and deportation. The State Department emphasized that visa holders are under "constant surveillance," including for exceeding the permitted period of stay, criminal activity, endangering public safety, or links to terrorism.   • PARIS - August 23. The Italian ambassador to France, Emanuela D'Alessandro, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic due to a statement by Italian Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini about French President Emmanuel Macron in light of his initiatives in Ukraine, according to the Franceinfo radio station.
